An ideal world ? In an ideal world, there may be times when accountants would like to call upon the services of a Tax Adviser on an ad hoc basis to assist with tax return completion during busy periods or to deal with complicated issues which take up valuable time to research. Clearly you would want to make sure that any such work is undertaken by someone who is both qualified and experienced, up to date with current legislation, has suitable PI cover and who is prepared to work flexibly and in confidence either at your premises, or from their own office.
In addition to these benefits, either outsourcing this work or just having the technical backup available to you also means no obligation to provide work after 31 January, and providing you are happy the arrangement doesn’t constitute “employment”, no Class IA liability or holidays to worry about.
There may also be times when you would rather concentrate on your larger clients, and when smaller clients such as retired individuals, smaller sole traders or landlord clients are no longer as cost effective to deal with. If this is the case or there are other factors (such as retirement) we may be able to make some arrangement for us to deal with these types of clients on a more permanent basis.
